Invitation to a Discussion with Mary Poppendieck on Lean Software Development
Morgan Stanley is pleased to invite you to join Mary Poppendieck, author of Lean Software Development: An Agile Toolkit, for an insightful discussion on lean software development, workflow efficiency and modern software engineering.
Thursday, 5 May 2016 Time: 5 p.m. – 6.30 p.m.
1095 Budapest, Lechner Ödön fasor 8
Mary started her career as a process control programmer, has managed an IT department of a manufacturing plant, worked in product development, where she was both a product champion and department manager and managed a government software project where she first encountered the word “waterfall”.
Mary lectures and teaches classes with her husband Tom and have authored three books: Implementing Lean Software Development: From Concept to Cash published in 2006, Leading Lean Software Development: Results are Not the Point in 2009, and The Lean Mindset: Ask the Right Questions in 2013.
“For the last century, efficiency experts have worked to improve the efficiency with which people and machines do work. Lean thinking directs our attention away from people and machines, focusing instead value as it flows through the work system. It asks: how efficient is the workflow from one end of the system to the other?
For the past two decades, tools and techniques have emerged that dramatically increase workflow efficiency when designing, developing and delivering software-intensive systems. Organizations that master these approaches report improved customer satisfaction, accelerated time to market, building the right product, improved product quality, reliable releases, and improved productivity and efficiency — all at the same time.” — Lean Software Development: An Agile Toolkit
